Winter Fair

Festivals that bring light into the darkness of the shorter, colder days of Winter are found in many cultures around the world. At Brooklyn Waldorf School, we are proud to host our beloved Winter Fair on the first Saturday of December each year. Renowned for its unique array of hands-on activities and creative decor, this annual event–hosted by BWS parents–utilizes all four floors of our historic building and is open to the public. All enrolled families are expected to support Winter Fair with volunteer hours and engagement. We are grateful for the significant time and energy donated by parents; in turn, we know that this kind of giving is an important component of building the connections and sense of belonging that families value so deeply about our school.

There is no door charge for Winter Fair; event revenue is generated by entrance to the many different activities of the Fair, the sale of food and drink, the sale of raffle tickets, puppet show tickets, vendor fees and merchandise, and by donations to and support of the Winter Fair Online Silent Auction.

May Fair & Scootathon

May Fair is an annual festival welcoming the arrival of Spring, often celebrated at Waldorf schools. At Brooklyn Waldorf, we gather for May Fair in beautiful Prospect Park on the morning of the first Saturday in May every year. In the afternoon, we round out the day with an event unique to our school: The Scootathon. While May Fair is not a fundraiser, Scootathon most definitely is, and has been since the first BWS Scootathon in 2009. In the spirit of athletic fundraising events in which participants ask their friends and family to sponsor their efforts on behalf of a worthy cause, participants scoot (or skate, or bike) laps around Prospect Park to raise money for Brooklyn Waldorf School. We encourage every enrolled family to participate as a rider and/or a fundraiser for Scootathon!

For more information about how to participate, email scootathon@brooklynwaldorf.org.

Fall Brewery Party & Other Fundraising Events

A newer tradition for our community is the Fall Brewery Party, an October gathering of both current and former families at the Other Half Brewery in Domino Park. The first Fall Brewery Party @ Other Half was held in October 2024, and we look forward to toasting with BWS community members both old and new for many Octobers to come.

As we plan celebrations for our 20th Anniversary (2025-2026 school year), we will add information about any new or upcoming fundraising events.
