Tuition Assistance

Tuition Assistance

Brooklyn Waldorf welcomes diverse families and extends generous tuition assistance that demonstrates our commitment.

Tier 2 and Tier 1 represent approximately 20% and 40% tuition assistance levels respectively, and are available to a limited number of qualifying families.

Tuition assistance tier levels and availability are adjusted annually based on the financial circumstances and demographics of the School. Requests for tuition assistance must be renewed by each family at annual enrollment and will be based on each family’s financial situation at the time of application. Tuition assistance may increase or decrease, depending on current circumstances.

  3. Complete online Financial Application.
  4. Submit complete income tax returns including all schedules for each of the most recent two years.

*The online Financial Application helps schools make informed decisions regarding tuition assistance. This requires both salary and asset information.

Decision Process

The School’s Tuition Committee reviews PFS, tax returns and any special circumstances in light of i) the current mix of families receiving Tier 2 and Tier 1 tuition and ii) the availability of financial assistance in a given year.

The Tuition Committee accepts Tier 2 and Tier 1 tuition assistance requests for a percentage of our community at a rate that benefits the entire school-community.  Currently, tuition assistance is granted to over 30% of our families.

The School relies on tuition to meet its operating costs and expenses, a large portion of which are teacher and staff salaries and benefits, and the Board of Trustees carefully balances financial and budgetary obligations and opportunities to ensure the financial health of the school.

Admissions notification letters contain Tier notifications for those families who have requested Tier 2 or Tier 1 tuition assistance.

Acceptance and Deposit

Admissions acceptance, Tier acceptance and tuition deposits are required to be submitted before the acceptance deadline.

Sibling Discount

The School does not offer a sibling discount for families with more than one student in the school.

Please feel free to contact the Admissions office if you have questions regarding tuition, assistance, admission and/or application process. We look forward to assisting you and your family as you move through the stages of application and on towards enrollment at the Brooklyn Waldorf School.
