Bridge Program

The Brooklyn Waldorf School Bridge Program fosters a healthy, gradual separation of parent and child for children ages 2 and a half to 4. It serves as a transition from a Parent-Child model to a Nursery model over the course of the school year.

Children play with simple, natural toys and materials; they are guided through the morning by the gentle rhythm of circle time, creative play, and snack and story time. Circle and story time reflect the world of nature and seasonal festivals. Circle time provides a rich learning experience through music and rhymes. Games and movement activities engage both large and fine motor coordination. Stories and puppet plays nourish the child’s imagination and provide rich material for creative play. The Bridge program runs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:15 – 11:45.

The timing of this will vary from child to child. As in the Parent–Child program, the Bridge program parents start the program with their children and engage in adult activities off to the side while their children play nearby. As they work TOWARDS separation, the lead teacher consults with parents to determine if the child shows readiness to separate. At this point, parents transition to a "drop off", nursery style program.

Schedule 2009 - 2010:

Classes start September 15th

Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00 – 11:30
Parents are expected to attend both classes (2.5 hours per class, 5 hours total per week). After separation, children can be picked up by authorized care givers.

Program Fees

Yearly Tuition: $6295

Please note that participating in the Bridge Program does NOT guarantee you a spot in our Nursery Program should you wish your child to continue with a Waldorf education in following years. Similarly there is no expectation that you should continue on with the Nursery Program should you not wish to do so. Our Early Childhood programs have a separate application process that starts in the late fall of 2009.
